What is Ford Co-Pilot 360?

Ford CoPilot 360 Driver-Assistive Technology

Busy roads and distracting passenger cabins make driving dangerous. With Ford Co-Pilot 360 assistive technology, drivers can stay safe whether backing out of the driveway or navigating a six-lane highway. Ford leads the way by adding its driver-assistive technology as a standard suite of features in most vehicles, and it’s available in all 2022 model year vehicles.

The team at Group 1 Ford of Rivertown near Fort Benning can show you how Co-Pilot360 functions in the lineup of Ford cars, trucks, and SUVs.

Features in the Ford Lineup

The Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite includes several features that keep drivers and their passengers safe on the road. At a minimum, the features in most Ford vehicles include a Rear View Camera, Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keeping System, Automatic High Beams, and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection to prevent collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians.

Since its debut in the 2019 model year vehicles, Ford Motor Company has added more driver-assistive features, especially in the fully-electric lineup.

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E has a full suite of standard safety features in the Select trim. The Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 suite includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping System, Rear View Camera, Auto High Beam Headlamps, Rear Parking Sensors, Reverse Sensing System, Post-Collision Braking, Evasive Steering Assist, Intersection Assist, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Centering Assist, and Speed Sign Recognition.

The only remaining available features for the fully-electric Mach-E include Hands-Free Park Active Park Assist, Surround View Parking Camera System, and BlueCruise.

Working Together for Hands-Free Driving

As driver-assistive technology becomes more advanced, vehicles equipped with BlueCruise can take advantage of hands-free driving. This technology is available on properly equipped Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning, and Ford Mustang Mach-E models.

The technology uses Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition to allow drivers to take their hands off the wheel on over 130,000 miles of divided highways. The system uses a driver-facing camera to ensure the driver has their eyes on the road for added safety. When BlueCruise-equipped Fords are on blue-zone highways, the dash lighting turns blue.

Ford also offers Active Park Assist 2.0 and Park Out Assist for hands-free assistance getting in and out of parking spots. The technology uses sensors and cameras to take over the steering, shifting, braking, and acceleration at the push of the button.
